About YoroNet
Think about the resources that have been used to make a textbook. Producing the paper required raw materials of wood and water as well as power for the manufacturing process. But our relentless demand for new products, which are discarded when they are no longer needed, is using up the earth’s resources. There is hardly any reason to doubt that the damage being caused to the environment is extensive.
Similar alarms, it is true , have come and gone without leaving any lasting trace. However, there is an important disparity this time. We know a lot more about the greenhouse effect and its probable consequences than we knew, say, about the threats that AI poses, which is why we have decided to act now. YoroNet was built to address the inherent waste and product obsolescence. We buy and sell secondhand items mainly textbooks in Hong Kong SAR.
“Despite its immensity, the earth’s resources are not infinite and it’s clear we have exceeded its limits”, said Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia. It is beyond belief that we discover another planet that can support human life. Hence, it is high time we kept our wasteful ways of life under control.
About Me
YoroNet is run by Babo, an eCommerce consultant with experience in Wealth Management, and Accounting. He was inspired to start YoroNet after reading an article in the Guardian newspaper about a report published by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) which states that if we continue to ransack the planet at the ongoing rate, current resources will be depleted by 2050.
Besides the continuous high levels of reserves consumption, the bulk of previously owned products which are generally made from natural resources ends up in a junkyard. Yet recirculating those secondhand items worldwide could reduce water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste that is linked to processing materials. Babo’s mission is to contribute to the environment.
Babo possesses a passion for both running and playing five-a-side football(soccer). He took part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in 2018, 2024, and 2025. Apart from long distance running, Babo enjoys occasional small size football games. In fact, he was a semi-professional soccer player.
Moreover, He sees himself as a ‘forever student’ and spends his spare time in the library, eager to build on his academic’s backgrounds in Mathematics, Computing, and eCommerce.
Babo’s dedication to continuous learning is of service to his occupation as a Financial content writer. He relies on his analytical skills to capture complex Financial concepts and express them in a clear, and concise writing style. In addition, Babo’s IT competencies allow him to weave keywords into web copies without sacrificing readability.
